Star Destroyer Final Project

This project was the final assignment for my ART/CSC 220 3D Computer Graphics class. We were tasked with modeling out a scene involving multiple objects, and rendering out pictures of the scene from different angles and using various photography techniques like depth of field and focal length. I chose to render out a scene that could exist in the Star Wars universe, where an Imperial Star Destroyer is orbiting a planet and has a scout patrol of 3 TIE Fighters flying around it. The full star destroyer is rendered, with turrets, the bridge, shield generators and engines, and the planet behind it consists of the planet sphere and the rings around it.

Capstone Project

This spring, I am taking my Capstone class to finish off my Digital Arts degree at UNCW. I chose to develop a 3D story-based survival game that is a reimagining of an early game I developed in 2018. That prior project was in Unity, and this capstone project will be in Unreal Engine 5. I am using programs like UE5, Substance Painter, Blender, ZBrush, and World Machine to create the game. The project is still in development, so enjoy this screen capture of the environment you can look forward to!

Kat Kompanion

This project was a semester-long assignment for my CSC 421/521 Game Development class, and tasked us with going through the entire game development process to create a game. My partner, Mark Karels and I chose to create a cat adventure game, where you play as a cat to defeat the enemies of all cats. The game consists of an intro area, 4 uniquely themed areas(sewer, grasslands, sand, snow), and pits the player against all types of enemies, from birds to dogs. It also contains unique bosses with their own arenas, and a loose progression system to guide the player through the game.

ALONE

This animation, titled “ALONE” follows a fantasy theme around a dragon-like creature searching for its mom. The character is entirely rigged with IK handles, and the animation was created in Maya. This project also incorporated Substance Painter, which allowed me to create unique textures for my characters.

THE INVASION

This project was the final assignment for my ART/CSS 320 Computer Animation class, and tasked us with creating an animation based on a personal story or a story of our choosing. I had gone to Normandy, France on a D-Day tour in 2019, and I wanted to do a flashback-style story showing scenes of the beaches then and now. The models are created and animated in Maya, and the entire video is edited in After Effects. The scenes show pictures I had taken at Normandy, and the animation fades those out and shows my animation depicting what that area would look and sound like.

Music Animation Project

The Music Animation project tasked myself and a partner with creating an animation that reacted to the music we chose to implement. The song we settled on was “Perfect World” by Martin Friedman, and we have blocks that react to the bass and treble of the song to incite movement. The animation was completely setup in Maya, and the video was edited in After Effects.

Bioluminescent Animation

This project was the first of my assignments in ART/CSC 320 Computer Animation, and tasked us with experimenting with bioluminescent organisms to create an animation that included those aspects of biology into a story. My animation follows centipede-like creatures that have glowing sections on their torsos, and throughout the animation we see the creature searching to find a partner. This animation was created and rendered in Maya.
